[edit] Never consistant

  • Throughout the series the various writers were never consitant in their stories on O'Houlihan-they varied from a compasionette caring person-to a femme fatale whoose life is spent drinking too much at parties and having affairs with officers and other ranks to an overzealus tough as nails by the book marinent-in 3/10 the Nurses refer to Houilian as "Herman Goering in Drag". {This last remark only shows that writers ignorance of the real Herman Goering who was hardly a marinet-but a prime example of a narcissist.} Also the early episode which exposes her alcohalism-she drinks half a quart of brandy a day-is only followed up by the late season epsiode when she consoles a fellow alcoholic nurse-possibly in a real life timeline it would have been Houlihan who has to take the "Cure"-but the friend was written in as a subsitute-else the writers would have had to drop Houlihan from the series! Futhermore in one epsiode when she is drunk in the operating Room is a farce: Hawkeye and Trapper John give her coffe to sober up-which is a myth-she still would have been drunk; furthermore in real life she would have been court martialed for derliction of duty and would probably had to resign her commission.

[edit] Giveaway on age

  • Margaret Houlihan was apparently born 1920; entered nursing college in 1938; graduated as a nurse and entered the service 1942; by 1952 in service 10 years. By the end of Korean War she would have been 33 years old at least. Ironicaly Loretta Swit when she began playing "Houlihan" by 1972 was 35-considerbly older than the fictional person she was portraying! Her hair turning from blond to white is a giveaway on age—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 134.53.145.184 (talk) 18:06, 30 April 2007 (UTC).
Amusingly, in one episode Radar implies that she is or looks older than his 39 year old sister, LOL.132.160.43.102 (talk) 01:35, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] O'Houlihan

There seems to be a misconception that Margaret's last name is O'Houlihan in the film. Henry twice calls her O'Houlihan and the General also does this twice. I'm not sure whether it's an oversight or a gag, but these are the only occurrences. In every other instance she's referred to as Houlihan. The screenplay refers to her as Houlihan, and in the film when she signs her and Frank's report to the General, she reads her name as Margaret J. Houlihan. I didn't change the article; I'm afraid everyone will freak out. I would like to change this article and the MASH (film) article, if everyone agrees. Donnie Love 02:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Charlie Brown

The article says:

having a Charlie Brown "record of losing" every competition game against the USMC!}

Perhaps this should be clarified. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has no idea how Charlie Brown is relevant here.
