[edit] Piaf; Crash

I put in proper dates and birthplace & cemetery. Plus, I removed false info on Edith Piaf. No matter how much the Marcel Cerdan fan who wrote this would wish it, they were not married and she did not have his child....DW

How can the great box champion Marcel cerdan have died in a Caravelle Plane, as he died un oct. 1949 and the first Caravelle french plane flew only in 1955!!
He died in the Açores island in an older plane, not in a jet!!!
People on the web write silly things, no matter what...

You are right, Marcel a Edith were not married but were very much involved as lovers. Another thing I was in another web-site re: Marcel Cerdan and it claimed that Marcel was killed in his own plane en-route to the States to fight Jake LaMotta, wrong. All 48 passengers on Air France were killed when the plane flew into a mountain in Sao Miguel, Azores and Marcel was to fight LaMotta in Spain. Ironically Jake LaMotta's son was killed in the Swissair crash in 1998.

Please don't describe Edith Piaf as a legend "in her own right". This phrase is offensive to women. She was a legend - period.

On the Edith Piaf page Cerdan is described as a "legend in France in his own right", I don't see this phrase as offensive to women.

[edit] Accuracy

According to www.marcelcerdan.com, he beat Omar Kouidri in 1937, not 1938

"many boxing experts and fans to be France's as well as Europe's greatest boxer." Whoever wrote that has given no evidence whatsoever. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.243.25.221 (talk) 09:58, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
