[edit] shortcut?
Is there a shortcut to get to this portal? Tkjazzer 03:50, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I just created one at P:MA, and p:ma. Bradford44 04:03, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Infoboxes
Should we have a section on infoboxes on the portal page? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Martial_Arts#Infoboxes Tkjazzer 03:51, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] where do you request articles for improvement?
Where do you request articles to be improved?
I think two articles which could be improved are 2 extremely important biographies is the Russian Martial Art Systema.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Vladimir_Vasiliev_%28martial_arts%29 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Ryabko
a website that would help is www.russianmartialart.com

[edit] article of the week to work on
Lets make a portal effort of article of the week. Similar to what the medicine portal does. Tkjazzer 19:13, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe we should start with an article of the month, and see how fast changes get made. In fact, I think we can have the following things:
- a box on the portal titled "Article for improvement (of the month)"
- a very brief explanation of what that means
- a very brief explanation that one can request an article be the "article of the month" at this talk page
- and set up the articles to automatically rotate to the next one in the list
Bradford44 19:47, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
On the other hand, maybe all of this should happen at WP:WPMA instead, and the Portal should just be an article hub, not a place to discuss or suggest improvements. Bradford44 19:49, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- If you decide to do it on the martial arts project page, you could at least what the wp:ma article of the month is on the portal page. Also, there could be a link to the wp:wpma box explaining everything. I think you could have it listed in both places. Tkjazzer 23:32, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

- Agree to both, make it a WPMA thing but link to it on the portal. -- Medains 11:12, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of priorities
Lets get some basic articles improved like the striking article.
We could scour for some free pictures and add some more examples of each kind of strike. We could get some video and embed it. Tkjazzer 19:15, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] History and Info
I wasn't sure where to put this, so I put it here. I have some history and informational papers from my karate class (Goju-ryu) scanned and on a jump drive. If you would like the files please email me at Kayatetsu@aim.com and I will happy to send them to you.
Hope I can help, Kaya tetsu 01:22, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Updates
When are we going to change the featured content? I'd suggest monthly --Nate1481( t/c) 15:41, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Sure monthly sounds good. I would like to suggest we work through the articles from best quality down FA -> A -> GA to encourage impovement to promotion. Also a place where we can drop suggestions for next months or do we just assign the job to one of our more enthusiastic brethren.Peter Rehse 09:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Due a change again, I'd suggest we don't go bellow b-class, but ideally keep them at GA where possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nate1481 (talk • contribs) 09:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Soo Bahk Do
This edit here from SooBahkDo was placed on Soo Bahk Do and Tang Soo Do. I removed it and this notice was placed on my talk page. I then contacted SooBahkDo here and received a reply what should be done? Harland1 16:30, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Video links for Judoka's
Hi, I would like to add a link to video clips of Judoka's on Wikipedia. Next to the info on Wikipedia itself, people can see moving images of the Judoka too.
Ie. http://www.judovision.org/index.php?mode=search&keyword=Ryoko
Now I am the owner of the site Judovision, and Yes ofcourse it will bring traffic to the site. But this is not the reason I wish to add the links. The reason is the same as why I set up the site, it is to share Judo videos and information with all those who are interested.
Next to that, Judovision is well known in the Judo world, and does not 'need' traffic.
Could anyone let me know how to get permission to add these links to Judoka profiles on Wiki?
Thank you for your time.
