Marytown, Wisconsin is an unincorporated community in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, in the town of Calumet.

[edit] Holyland

Marytown is located in an eastern Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin area known as "The Holyland", named for a large number of small towns built around churches, consisting of such towns as St. Peter, St. Cloud, St. Anna, Mount Calvary, Johnsburg, Calvary, Brothertown and Jericho.

A recognizable feature in Maryland is its Roman Catholic church called St. Mary's church. The church is located at the peak of the largest hill in the area. The church is lit at night, and can be see from several miles away (depending on the terrain).

Marytown is located at the intersection of Fond du Lac County highways G and HH. Wisconsin Highway 149 formed the backbone of the city before it was decommissioned in 2006. It entered the community in the northeast part, and ran north/south the length of the community.

[edit] Tornado outbreak

Several houses at the north end of Marytown were destroyed in a tornado during a statewide outbreak of tornadoes on the same day as the Oakfield Tornado. One person was killed from the tornado.[1]
