Martyn Clayton

Martyn Clayton is an English writer and photographer (born 3 May 1974) who lives in York, Yorkshire.
He has been published extensively as a journalist. He is also a published poet, short-story writer and novelist. He writes about pop culture, music, the environment, gender, identity, social justice and contemporary culture. He is the author of Roma : A People On The Edge (Braiswick 2003) a non-fiction book exploring the history and current situation of the Roma Gypsy peoples worldwide. His first novel, Take Me Out (Garbled Noise 2007) has been described as 'jaundiced chick-lit' and is set in the author's adopted home city of York. A follow-up novel Connection (Garbled Noise 2008) catalogues further developments in the life of his central character, the androgynous Lauren Seymour. In April 2008, he was signed to independent Californian publishers, Subculture Books. His blog Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma is named after the shortest street in York and can be read on his Myspace Page.
