[edit] Biography
He was born in the West Yorkshire town of Halifax.
In 2000 he started a website called Brainjam with his friend Andy Wilson.
As a comedy actor Martin won a number of accolades for his one man show ‘Wolf at the Door’ which in 1997 appeared on the Edinburgh Fringe. However he is predominantly a comedy writer and stand-up comedian and has contributed material to a number of radio shows and many newspaper and magazine columns. He has appeared in a few short films including The Fox and Strange Appeal which were both shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
He is openly gay but has said on many occasions that he never uses his sexuality in his work as he doesn't believe it to be "note-worthy."
He still appears occasionally in stand-up with a strange mix of surreal observation and satire. However he mainly concentrates on writing.
Currently he can be heard in The Gentleman's Review podcast a fortnightly ramble through the news with Andy Wilson and Tom Stringfellow.
In 2005 Martin started a production company called Brainjam Productions, which has since folded.
