Martín De León II

Martin De Leon (born May 25, 1981) is a Mexican-American writer, editor, and music critic based in Brooklyn, New York. He has a monthly column in the San Francisco electronic music magazine XLR8R and is one of the few Latinos covering avant-garde music in the United States. His debut collection of four short stories called Witches and Fathers is forthcoming in 2008. In addition, he is also working on a novel about a Mexican DJ, ghosts and punks called Aurora. De Leon was short listed for the 2004 Austin Chronicle Short Story Award for his story "Neuro". He is co-founder and editor of Blank Screen, an arts webzine that covers progressive film, music and art. De Leon has written about hip-hop, indie rock, and DJs for, among others, Urb, Vibe, The New York Press and The Austin Chronicle.

In February 2007, his short story "Tomorrow, a Blankness" was published in Block Magazine. Other recent publications include the illustrated short story "1986" in the debut, July issue of the comics anthology, Low Tech Modern Comics.
