[edit] Expansion

This club team is an expansion to the SouthWest Soccer Association that was founded in 1997 as a soccer league that had about 4 teams per age division (6-7), (8-9), (10-11), (12-13), and (13-14). This league is a non-profit organization that provides an opportunity to many kids around the southwest area of Chicago to have an activity after school to keep them away from problems the City of Chicago is obtaining. Marquette F.C. was thought about to represent the SouthWest Soccer Association in city wide tournaments and in competative soccer leagues.(CLASA, Hispano, WYSA).

Marquette F.C. is not only known city wide, but also in the state of San Luis Potosí, Mexico where they past their summer preseason in 2007 to play friendly games with local San Luis Potosí teams and the official San Luis F.C.(U-15) team. This was all possible thanks to the mayor of the state San Luis Potosí, Jorge Lozano Armengol. The mayor paid all the expenses of the Chicago team. This was a gift to Marquette F.C. because in the winter of 2007 the official San Luis F.C.(U-15) team came to Chicago for a tournament were they didn't face Marquette F.C. because they didn't make it to the final. But Marquette F.C. parents gave the San Luis F.C. players a tour of the city and took them many places to learn more about Chicago.

The girls team was (U-19) since they also wanted a few experienced girls on the team. At first it was under the name of "Princesas". This team later grew and a second team was created under the name Marquette F.C.

[edit] Club Name

When these teams were formed in 2005, they were officially named "Marquette Stars", it was kepted this way until mid April of 2008 were it was changed to Marquette Football Club "Marquette F.C." Before the start of the summer season in CLASA 2008

[edit] Players

In order to be in this club you have had to be registered in the SouthWest Soccer Association and from there selected players from each catergory were going to represent the new club. According to Gilberto Reyes the president of this organization, only 3 recuits that were not registered with the SouthWest Soccer Association were going to be possible. But as the clubs grew, that rule was broken.

Marquette Park, the largest park on the southwest side of Chicago at 323 acres, is located in Community Area 66, or Chicago Lawn, in Chicago, Illinois.

The official address for Marquette Park is: 6734 S. Kedzie Ave. Chicago, IL 60629
