Mark R. Isfeld Senior Secondary is a public high school in Courtenay, British Columbia part of School District 71 Comox Valley. The school was named for Canadian Forces Master Corporal Mark Robert Isfeld (1962-1994). MCpl Isfeld gained notoriety for distributing small knitted dolls to children during three tours of peacekeeping duties in the former Yugoslavia. The dolls were made by his mother, Carol Isfeld, who recently passed away while living in Courtenay. MCpl Isfeld was killed while conducting demining operations near Kakma, Croatia on June 21, 1994.[1]
