Mr. Phillips is currently the Executive Producer of INSIDE: PREDATOR TASK FORCE for COURT TV/TRU TV, and the Executive Producer of SWAT USA CALIFORNIA also for COURT/TRU. Previously he EP’d LIE DETECTOR – 13 one hours, an “actuality” series for NBC/PAX – now ITV. In 2004 Mr. Phillips Developed and Executive Produced the re-launch of the TVGUIDE Network, specifically a six day a week one hour reality magazine, WHAT’S ON. Before that he developed and Executive Produced TRIBUTES and EXTREME TRIVIA, both pilots for King World. Recently he was the Co-Executive Producer of FRIENDS OR LOVERS on the USA NETWORK where he oversaw its’ successful launch and the first 65 episodes. He was the Executive Producer and Writer of K-9 COPS for TLC. and also executive produced and wrote two one hours of UNDERCOVER STINGS for TLC. Phillips also EP’d THE JER-Z-Y GAMES for the DISNEY CHANNEL in the spring of 2000. Phillips was the Executive Producer and writer of his first incarnation of LIE DETECTOR, hosted by Marcia Clark, a prime time program for the Fox Broadcasting Network and FILTHY LIARS, piloted for FX Cable Network. Mr. Phillips was also the Executive Producer of IT TAKES TWO, starring Dick Clark, which debuted in March of 1997 on The Family Channel. Mark spent four years as the Senior Supervising Producer of REAL STORIES OF THE HIGHWAY PATROL, overseeing 600 + episodes of the show. Phillips spent 3 years at MGM/UA, as a staff Producer then as Director of Syndication, Network Daytime and Special Projects. Mr. Phillips has also produced two seasons of the highly acclaimed series GOTTA SWEAT starring 6 time Ms. Olympia, Cory Everson for ESPN2.
Phillips’ stint at MGM/UA began when he was hired to write and produce, LOVE ME, LOVE ME NOT, which aired on the USA NETWORK. Later, during his executive capacity at MGM/UA, Phillips oversaw development and series production of KIDS INC. for the Disney Channel and HELLO KITTY’S FURRY TALE THEATRE, for CBS. He was also involved with the development and production of SEA HUNT and GROUP ONE MEDICAL. He went on to be the Writer and Senior Segment Producer of GROUP ONE MEDICAL at the behest of its Creator and Executive Producer, Van Gordon Sauter.
Mr. Phillips was nominated for the 1994 CABLE ACE AWARD as Producer of the comedy special, MOVIE MADNESS MYSTERY for A&E. He served as a Staff Developer/Producer at Bob Banner Associates and on staff at Barry-Enright where he was Producer of BULLS-EYE and a Writer for JOKER’S WILD, JOKER, JOKER, JOKER!, PLAY THE PERCENTAGES and TIC TAC DOUGH.
Phillips, who was born in Durham County England, began his career in Canada, served as Director of Program Development at COLUMBIA PICTURES TELEVISION CANADA, and while there was Producer of the leading, syndicated, public affairs program, UNDER ATTACK -- a position he held at age 21. He also served as Producer of CONFRONTATION and as Supervising Producer (and occasional director) of THE ALPHABET OF LIFE a dramatic, reality strip. While in Canada, he was the Producer of, THUNDER, a family film for the CBC and Learning Corporation of America. He also worked as a writer and producer at the CBC Toronto affiliate, CBLT and wrote, directed and produced numerous commercials.
Phillips studied Drama and Journalism at Humber College and Humanities at York University in Toronto, Canada, and holds his BA in Communications from Loyola Marymount University. In 1993 he received his MBA, with an emphasis in Marketing and an International Certificate, from Loyola Marymount Graduate School of Business. He has served on Blue Ribbon Panels and International Panels for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Mr. Phillips and his wife, Nargess, have a thirteen year old daughter, Persia Gabriella. Mrs. Phillips is a leading Architectural Designer, Space Planner and owner of MAISON DÉCOR.
