Mark Chasan

Mark Chasan is an entrepreneur, investment banker, Internet veteran, lawyer and digital media pioneer[1].

Chasan has been instrumental in creating new financial models for a process driven approach to liquidity and value creation utilizing a private-to-public strategy[2].

Chasan is the Chairman and CEO of Transformative Capital, Inc., a multi-faceted private equities and strategic advisory firm focusing on renewable energy and companies that are sustainable, environmentally conscious and transformative[3].

Chasan is also a founding and advisory board member of the Sustainable Business Council, a non-profit forum that furthers standards, practices, education, networking and adoption of sustainable business[4].

Previously Chasan was the Managing Director at Greenbridge Capital Group, Inc and co-founder and Managing Partner at Publex Ventures, both private-to-public investment banking and hybrid equities firm in Santa Monica.[5]

Prior to co-founding Publex, Chasan was Chairman and Co-Founder of Sharecomm, Inc., a peer-to-peer technology company focused on building media communities. Sharecomm was sold to Stirling Bridge aka Morpheus in 2004.[6]

Before co-founding Sharecomm, Inc., Chasan was an Executive Consultant of IBM Global Services, Digital Media and Entertainment Group, where Chasan was a leader in IBM's development of marketplace strategies and solutions in the media and entertainment sectors and designed several digital media solutions for IBM.[7]

In 1995, Chasan founded Emusic, and as Chairman and CEO of Emusic[8] created the world’s first online digital music distribution and retailing company and a leading online music and entertainment superstore[9]. In February 1999, Emusic merged with Goodnoise/Emusic.com, Inc. and went public (NASDAQ: EMUS)[10]. Also, in 1995, Chasan formed Webcentral, one of the first web development, hosting and co-location facilities in the US and hosted such customers as Caltrans, ReMax and AudioNet/Broadcast.com. Webcentral was acquired by Interworld Communications in 1997.

Chasan has been passionate about the environment his entire adult life and in as far back as 1985, Chasan co-founded Fin-Tech, the first company to recycle high solids V.O.C. paint for reuse in the appliance and office furniture industries. This was an economic reuse of hazardous waste that would have otherwise ended up in land fills.

From 1985 to 1998, Chasan ran the law firm of Chasan & Associates, which focused in corporate, securities, entertainment, transactional and civil law.
