Mario Schmidt is a Brazilian historian and writer. He wrote the Nova História Crítica (New Critical History) series of school books, published by Editora Nova Geração. Several Brazilian newspapers and magazines have attacked the book and the author, publishing lies and biased articles. They accuse the author of not being impartial in his books, and of praising leftist governments, using quotes taken out of context as evidence. It's also been said that he presents his opinions as the ultimate truth, though he wrote in the introduction of his book that people should always question what they're told and form their own opinions.
