Marian Jerzy Woronin (born 13 August 1956 in Grodzisk Mazowiecki) was a Polish athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres.
Woronin won nine Polish outdoor titles, and nine indoor titles also.
In 1978 he won a European championship Gold medal in the 4x100 relay.
He is a four-time European Indoor Champion in the 60 metres. In 1985 he won the European Cup 100, and in 1982 a bronze in the 100 metres at the European Championships. As well as 3rd place in the world cup in 1979.
He competed for Poland in the 1980 Summer Olympics held in Moscow, Soviet Union in the 100 and 200 he reached both finals finishing 7th in both sprints. However in the 4 x 100 metre relay where he won the silver medal with his team mates Krzysztof Zwoliński, Zenon Licznerski and Leszek Dunecki.
His fastest time of 10.00 in the 100m was rounded up from 9.997 seconds, thus giving him the distinction of being the only white sprinter ever to run under 10 seconds for the 100 metres, albeit unofficially[1]. Patrick Johnson, an Australian sprinter who is ethnically half-Irish and half-Native Australian, recorded a 100m time of 9.93 seconds.
Woronin's P.B. in the 200m was 20.49.
In 1981 he ran with the Polish/Europe sprint relay team that won in the World Cup in Rome.
