Marcio Maximo

Marcio Maximo, a Brazilian, is the head coach of the Tanzania National Football Team. He will be responsible for the Taifa Stars.

His appointment by the Government of Tanzania follows a promise made by the President of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete to ensure improvement of football in the country.

He had previously coached Livingston Football Club in Scotland in 2003/2004. He was also a member of Brazil's youth coaching staff (under-17 and under-20) in 1992 and 1993.

His main task was to qualify the Taifa Stars for the 2008 African Nations Cup finals in Ghana for the first time in more than 25 years. However, he failed to reach that ambition but his recent focuses have been on qualifying for the 2010 World cup. Recently Maximo has meant a lot to Tanzania so as to improve soccer. Under his leadership, the ranking of the Tanzanian team has risen.
