Marete Van Kamp played “Grace”, the intimidating yet beautiful sidekick to evil Angelica (Barbera Carrera) in the 1985/6 season of the hit sitcom “Dallas”. In an elaborate scheme to inherit the vast Marinos shipping empire, Angelica targeted Jack Ewing (Dack Rambo), a lookalike to the ailing tycoon Dimitri Marinos, to pretend he was the magnate in order to lend credibility that Marinos was alive and of sound mind. Grace and Jack however grew genuinely fond of each other, whereafter Grace foiled Angelica’s plan by informing Jack that he would be killed as part of the plan. Her actions prevented the assassination of Jack as well as cousin J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman), tycoon of Ewing Oil. Grace was subsequently killed by Angelica in an act of vengeance for this betrayal. Marete’s cool demeanor and beauty would have seen her to stardom in the 21st century. In the 1980’s, she was plain intimidating!
