The Maplewood Richmond-Heights school district was established in 1840 and the original high school building, built in 1929, is still standing and used today. [1]

In the fall of 2007 Maplewood rolled through the regular season football games, losing none and going on to the final four of the state championship. The team lost to Blair Oaks, the defending state champions, in the semifinal round with a score of 42-14. Maplewood's final record for the season was 12-1.[2]
