[edit] Pokémon Organised Play League

Pokémon League may also refer to the governing body of the activity of Pokémon Battling within the fictional world of Pokémon.

Pokemon League is the informal form of Organised Play within Pokémon Usa Inc.'s (PUI) Pokémon Organised Play (POP) Program for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Pokémon Leagues are a non-competitive environment where players may learn the game, test stategies for competition, socialise, participate in various league activities and trade cards. There are several hundred active Leagues across the world, although the majority operate within The United States of America. The Japanese-language Trading Card Game organisation is separate to this and is not operated by PUI.

Pokémon Leagues typically run on a weekly basis and sessions normally last 2 to 4 hours. Official Pokémon Leagues are open to all, excluding those who have been banned from POP. Most Leagues in North America are free of charge; this varies internationally dependant on venue costs. Leagues are run by an official League Leader, who has registered themself and the league with POP. PUI provide for players certain free materials , which vary by year but are typically exclusive items and may include badges, stickers, single promotional cards and promotional card packs. The POP year begins in September, and typically consists of eight themed seasons.
