Talk:Manhunt (urban game)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Should this really be a seperate article or should it be put under the list of tag variations? At the very least I think the two pages should be linked.

[edit] different type of manhunt
OK, what I know as manhunt is a significantly different game, essentially, one person is it, and everyone else gets to run away (staying within certain boundaries). When the it person tags someone, that person ALSO become it, until finally (theoretically) one person is left not it, and they are the winner. See http://www.manhunt-toronto.com/ for more info.
That is completely different from what people my way do it. I've added it to the main page as "Alternate version"Cardboard boxA 22:30, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to bump your entry down one heading level, so it is a subcategory of "team manhunt." Threedeeglasses 22:17, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Citing sources
The article has been flagged for not citing sources. As far as the Toronto (and, I presume, Montreal, Vancouver, Perth, Edmonton, etc,) variants go, there are numerous interviews with Matt Collins, creator of Manhunt Toronto, floating around the net: [1] (scroll down a bit), [2], [3], and on... National Post and Broken Pencil magazine had eyes present at the last High Park game, so there might be more articles on the way. Anyway, someone more adept at Wiki-fu could clean up this article and cite those damnable sources.
Maybe it would be enough to give the Toronto (et al) variant its own article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.99.167.47 (talk) 07:37, 24 December 2006 (UTC).
I'd be inclined towards removing the unsourced versions of the game from this page. The canadian manhunt games are very well documented, and the woodcote manhunt league at least has a website. I'll at least look at making the canadian games more specifically cited (I run manhunt-edmonton) 68.148.228.46 19:39, 24 December 2006 (UTC) Oops that was me. forgot to sign in. - Either remove them or give them secondary positions below the Canadian style, I'd support that... 74.99.167.47 05:26, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rewrite
I just did a major rewrite of the article to clarify and simplify certain parts: the two main branches have been more clearly defined; the basic rules of tag have been removed from each variation and summarized within each section; I tried standardizing some of the vocabulary/jargon, use "player" instead of "person" or "him", etc; I replaced most claims of popularity with the neutral "is played"; fixed spelling and grammatical errors, reduced superfluously redundant verbosity, and on... If you feel something essential has been removed from a subsection don't just revert the whole thing! 203.229.74.195 16:05, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Also if someone could insert the sources that would be good; a lot can be found on the External Links listed at the bottom, and the articles linked above in this Discussion. 203.229.74.195 16:05, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Team Variants
I'm not sure you can split this game up by country/state. I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland and we played the "Escape variant". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.41.73.47 (talk) 18:32, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rural Play
I'm not sure it's entirely accurate to say that this game is usually played in urban environments. I have played this game growing up with all sorts of different people, but never in an urban environment. It was always played in wooded environments usually with a field as the home base. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.48.248.95 (talk) 15:30, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
