[edit] COI tag
Dear all, I would please like some advice on how to alter this article so that it no longer requires a conflict of interest warning at the top of the page. As an employee of the Manchester Library & Information Service, I have mainly used information taken from our web pages within the main council website. I have tried to remove any facts that may appear disputable. What else do I need to use or add?—Preceding unsigned comment added by SeanJamesJoyce (talk • contribs)
- The main thing that you need to do is to stop editing it! As an employee, you have a conflict of interest. As an article sourced mainly from the council's website, the article lacks proper independent sourcing, which is a requirement for a Wikipedia article. The COI issue isn't that anything you say in the article is incorrect. The issue is that as a COI editor, you may unconciously select the facts to be presented so as to give a positive article.
- I would suggest that you take the following actions;
- Add some relevant independent sources to the article.
- Leave the article for others to edit. Once the article has been modified sufficiently by uninvolved editors, the COI tag will cease to be appropriate, and will be removed
