Manuel Carvalho da Silva is the current coordinator of the biggest Portuguese Labour union federation, the General Confederation of the Portuguese Workers. Carvalho da Silva has a degree in sociology, and several published works and books on syndicalism and economy. He is a member of the Portuguese Communist Party.
