Manguzi, KwaZulu-Natal

Manguzi is a rural community in the Maputuland region of KwaZulu-Natal province. It is located some 15km south of the Mozambique-South Africa border, and is situated near Kosi Bay.

On September 5, 2007, two female residents of Manguzi, Mangubane Msaba Zungu and Qibile Thabitha Thusi, were dragged from their homes and taken to a sports field by students of Manhlenga High School. They were accused of practicing witchcraft against the students of the school and were doused with gasoline, then burnt alive. Zungu died at the scene, and Thusi died later at hospital of her wounds.[1]
