Mango tunes is an offshoot of noise rock and traditional Caribbean music (although it can not be classified in these or any other genre). The genre has it origins in Central Connecticut, and has since become very popular in the Midwest part of the United States.
[edit] Style
Mango tunes songs generally utilize an array of effects pedals, creating a wall of sound that includes almost undetectable notes. Songs are generally 15 to 30 minutes long, and are never played more than once.
Although very few mango tunes albums have been released, they all contain identical covers which consist of a simple photograph of a mango (found on Google image search).
Mango tunes is still a relatively unknown genre, as only a few bands exist playing this style of music. It has since received no critical success, partially because mango tunes bands refuse to utilize any forms of networking.
Contrary to any belief, mango tunes, in fact, has no real correlation to the actual fruit, the mango.
