The Manchester Mosquitoes are an Australian Rules Football club based in Chorlton, south Manchester, England.
[edit] History
The Mozzies were founded in 2005 and joined the British Australian Rules Football League. They had a successful first year finishing 3rd and narrowly missing the finals.
A committee was elected at the end of 2006 for the 2007 season. During that season the Mozzies were not part of a league but played several 'friendlies' with BARFL teams in England and Scotland.
The season culminated with the invitational 'Manchester Mosquitoes Footy Carnival 2007'. Which saw teams from both British Aussie Rules Leagues (BARFL and ARUK) playing together, the teams comprised:
British Bulldogs - BARFL
Dragonslayers England - ARUK
Scotland Puffins - BARFL
Red Dragons Wales - ARUK
Manchester Mosquitoes - BARFL
In their first year 2006, the Mozzies wore jumpers of the Richmond Tigers club from the AFL; for the 2007 season they have worn their own design, a black shirt with a golden Minge across the chest.
The team trains and plays at Turn Moss playing field Chorlton in south Manchester.
