This memorial plaque has been erected beside a railway bridge on Hyde Road,Manchester,UK and commemorates the site at which on September 18th 1867, a number of prisoners were freed by force and in the conflict, a police officer was shot dead. A number of those who helped free the prisoners were later hanged. See Wikipedia article entitled Manchester Martyrs. |
