[edit] Biography

Coming from a family of musicians, MaLoY is the only daughter of Efren Lozañes, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who travelled the world most of the time, and Gloria Moreno Lozañes (R.I.P.), a plain housewife with a soothing voice but didn't sing professionally. She has two brothers: Antonio Lozañes, a keyboardist; and Michael Lozañes, who decided to be a Medical Technologist instead of pursuing a singing career himself.

Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, where music and entertainment are a big part of the Filipino culture, MaLoY had never dreamt of a singing career. She was almost always in the hospital due to her asthma but had managed to always graduate with flying colors and considered Chemistry, Physics and Algebra as her favorite subjects.

Like most Filipino artists, singing contests had been a part of Maloy's childhood, sometimes singing against her brother Michael from one amateur singing contest to another. It wasn't until before she finished High School that she thought of pursuing a singing career. She joined several Filipino show bands which led her touring Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia until her father, who was in Germany at that time since the late 1970s with an all-Filipino funk & soul band called "PLEASE", decided to get her and her brother, Tony, to join his German band in 1993.
