Malcolm Brinded CBE (born 1953) is the current Executive Director Exploration & Production and a Managing Director of Royal Dutch Shell plc

Brinded graduated from Cambridge University in 1974 with a degree in Engineering and joined Shell in The Hague. Since then he has worked for the Shell Group in Brunei, the Netherlands, Oman and the UK.

Brinded became Executive Director Exploration & Production on 27 October 2004.

In March 2007, Brinded was at the center of allegations claiming that that "top directors of Shell Expro in Aberdeen, the UK arm of the Anglo-Dutch group, allegedly sanctioned a policy widely known as Touch Fuck All (TFA) whereby offshore installation managers were told to stop any work with the potential to cause unplanned shutdowns". An article published by The Guardian on 29 March 2007, under the headline “Van der Veer - a safe pair of hands?” stated in reference to Van der Veer, “The one big area where he has fallen down is safety”. It went on to remind readers that the newspaper had revealed a few weeks earlier that Shell had “continued to receive warnings from the Health and Safety Executive that it is acting illegally with regard to safety in the North Sea”. The article concluded that “Mr van der Veer needs to bring a halt to this, and so does exploration and production boss Malcolm Brinded if he wants to stand any chance of taking over the top job”. Another article published by the Guardian on the same day, 29 March 2007, under the headline

Malcolm Brinded is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He is also a member of the Russian Foreign Investment Advisory Council, and of the Shanghai Mayoral International Business Leaders Advisory Council.

In 2002, Brinded was awarded the honour of the CBE in the New Year's Honours List for services to the UK oil and gas industry.

Brinded is married to Carola and has three sons, the eldest of whom, Benjamin Brinded, followed in his father's footsteps to Cambridge University, where he became President of the Students' Union.
