Makiko Esumi (江角マキコ Esumi Makiko?), née Makiko Hirano (平野真紀子 Hirano Makiko, born 18 December 1966 in Shimane, Japan) is a Japanese model and actress.
Esumi began her career as a volleyball player but after being injured was discovered by a talent scout in hospital. Her screen debut was in Hirokazu Koreeda's Maborosi, though she is probably best known for her role as Tsuboi Chinatsu on the TV drama Shomuni. She also appeared on government advertisements about pension contributions.
In 2000 she released her (only?) single, One Way Drive, featuring guitar work and production by Tomoyasu Hotei, who also co-wrote the song with Esumi.
In 2005 she gave birth to her first child and wrote a children's book.
