Make a Friend Out of Me is a song by Vincent Ruello and Melaia Ruello (Vinny Pop) that features whale song. The song was featured in the Australian Daily Telegraph by Jonathon Moran in 2007. It was released worldwide in January 2007, and published by DOL Records Australia. The song has been adopted by Save the Whales USA to be featured on a forthcoming CD. Ewan Isbister from Greenpeace Australia commented "it's a great catchy song". Australian writer John Sligo called it "the most beautiful whale song I have ever heard, haunting and sweetly melodic". Original voices were recorded by whale conservationists who gave the tapes to Vincent Ruello in 1991. Two pups and their parents were used in the music. Vinny Pop sampled the voices through a delayed loop to achieve a continuous "operatic singing" effect. The iTunes Music Store was the first major internet audio publisher to pick up on the song and distribute it worldwide.
