[edit] Sasha Grey real name: Official warning

Per our policy Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, "Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material — whether negative, positive, or just questionable — about living persons should be removed immediately and without discussion from Wikipedia articles". Ms. Grey's real name is clearly contentious, given that she has gone to great lengths to keep it private. That means that we can't post it without it being very well sourced, meaning we need to cite a place where a reliable secondary source has widely published it already. A scan of a driver's license is not a secondary source, an anonymous web site is not a reliable source.

Do not add Ms. Grey's real name to the article about her without excellent sourcing. If you aren't sure, check with an experienced user or a Wikipedia:Administrator. Otherwise it will be removed, from the article and talk page. Users continuing to add it despite being warned will be blocked. If unregistered users continue to add the name to the page, the page will be semi-protected, allowing only registered users to edit. I am repeating this caution on the talk pages of registered users who have posted it there already, and will block them if they repeat. You are incorrect, and your censorship will not be tolerated. (Struck, don't restore.) --Majorofhonor 15:00, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
The initial insertion of Sasha's name came with a source that could not have been called reliable under any circumstances. All subsequent discussion of that name is necessarily done with unclean hands, even if by perchance the name is accurate! As a result, we cannot keep it present within the article. [edit] Blocked, 24 hours

For inserting uncited contentious information on per WP:BLP on Talk:Sasha Grey after repeated warnings to make a point. Sorry, I didn't want to, but it doesn't look like there was another choice. I hope you can discuss civilly when the block expires. If not, the block will be repeated, and extended. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 16:30, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked again

If you want to discuss, please do so, and hopefully we can come to an agreement. You can still post on your talk page, I understand. (Possibly unless you're also the page move vandal and are also blocked due to that.)

At least putting her name in her article might conceivably be improving the encyclopedia if it was well sourced. Putting her name on your talk page isn't helping the encyclopedia in any way.

Please figure out what your goal is here. If it's improving the encyclopedia, we can work together and do that. If it's just making a point about free speech - well, this is the wrong place for that; make a free Tripod or Myspace page and write all you want, but this is supposed to be an encyclopedia. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 12:50, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
