Majajan is a Pakistani Punjabi film directed by Syed Noor which was released across theaters in Pakistan in January 2006. It is reportedly doing very well at the box office. Director of Majajan Syed Noor married the heroine Saima during this film. Majajan is a love story Syed Noor says he "made most passionately". Inspired by the life of Baba Bulleh Shah and his 'ishq' with his 'murshad',

Shaan plays Zill-e-Shah - an unhappily married man belonging to the revered Syed clan who falls in love with a courtesan, Taari (Saima), when she arrives and performs in his village. His wife (Madiha Shah) and family straightaway condemn the relationship straightaway.

Majajan and has crossed Diamond Jubilee (100 weeks) in Lahore's cinemas. It also did Solo Silver Jubilees on its two main cinemas Metropole and Sozo Gold in Lahore. This film also defeated three great Bollywood films Mughl-e-Azam, Taj Mahal and Bride & Prejudice.

Majajan created a unique record when it won 21 awards in all categories from 25th Asian Film Awards for 2006. Majajan has been unanimously selected as the best movie of year by all the members of film awards committee.



With an interview with a newspaper, the director of Majajan, Syed Noor said. "When I read the verses of Baba Bulleh Shah I promised myself that I will make a film on the great Sufi poet's 'Ishq' and I was looking for an opportunity to do that. So, I discussed the story with my wife (Rukhsana Noor) who is also a writer. She converted it into a full-fledged script and finally I created Majajan." "She (Saima) didn't compromise on quality, and spent lavishly on making Majajan a masterpiece," he said.

The album of Majajan consists of 10 songs but only half of them have been put in the film. Syed Noor wanted his songs to remind viewers of films like Pattan, Mukhrra, Naji, Ishq-e-Laila, Yakkey Wali and Kartar Singh."

The director said that Shaan was playing this type of character for the first time in a film. both Saima and Shaan are said to have given their best performance to date. The film revolves completely around those two artistes, and "Shan will prove with this film that he is not just good for the usual Punjabi film roles, but also for more subtle characters."
