Won't this do the wrong thing every January 1? For example, on January 1, 2008, CURRENTYEAR will already be 2008, so it will yield "Wikipedia:Today's featured article/December 31, 2008", which won't exist yet. I think it has to be

{{Wikipedia:Today's featured article/{{Day-1}}, {{#ifeq: {{Day}} | January 1 | {{#expr: {{CURRENTYEAR}} - 1}} | {{CURRENTYEAR}}}}}}
