Maia Lee, (Chinese: 李芝瑛; pinyin: Li Zhīyīng; born January 31, 1983), is a Singaporean singer and television artiste who is best known for her provocative, liberal style and personality.[1]

Lee quit secondary school at the age of 15, making a choice to learn through backpacking For a year, she went solo backpacking around SEA countries. A daredevil, she also writes about her unique experiences on her STOMP blog: [2]

Lee was a finalist in the popular talent contest Singapore Idol, where she was known for her high-energy performances and controversial "bad girl" image. Maia was voted Number 8 in FHM Singapore's World's Most Sexiest Women list, and the FHM Most Outspoken Babe 2005 award. Lee graced the May 2005 cover of the popular male lifestyle magazine FHM.

Lee is part of the local techno trio, The Usual Suspects, who have had three Number 1 hits on the local station WKRZ 91.3 FM, namely "China Girl", "The Love You Promised", and "Sunburn". "The Love You Promised" has also been released in Japan and Europe, receiving airplay as far as Scandinavia. Famed German dance music prodigy, Cascada ('Miracle', 'Bad Boy'), even picked the song up and recorded a remix released in December 2004.

Since May 2005, Lee has also become a celebrity guest interviewer/writer for The New Paper, a local tabloid.

In December 2005, Lee snagged the title of "Shock Of The Year" in The New Paper's annual Flame Awards for her alleged near-marriage to fellow Singapore Idol finalist, Sylvester Sim.

Lee is now a celebrity blogger on the local online portal STOMP (Straits Times Online Mobile Print) a forum where different topics of interest are discussed with other celebrity bloggers on Wednesday nights.

Maia has also appeared on the front page of HOTSTUFF magazine Issue 52 posing with a Nissan Skyline GT-R R32. HOTSTUFF magazine is a Singapore motorsports and accessories magazine. In this issue, it is written in Maia's profile that her vital statistics are 32E-25-33.

Lee is a single mother. She has one son, Tyrese Lee, born 2002.

Lee has a total of eleven tattoos, including an image of an eagle tattooed on her neck which is a pun based on her Chinese name. The character "Yīng", meaning eagle is pronounced the same as "Yīng" meaning a type of jade or more often the colour of jade. At 1.48 meters, Lee was the shortest finalist on the first season of Singapore Idol.

In early 2005, Lee's engagement to fellow Singapore Idol finalist Sylvester Sim was cited to be a publicity stunt.[3]

In a TNP report ('Feminine attraction... or infatuation?') on 22 July 2006, Maia discussed previous relationships with women.

At the turn of 2007, Lee created a stir when The Straits Times Life! reported her coming out as a pansexual; after her blog entry on the paper's online portal, STOMP. Read it here.

She was reported as of March 2008 to be pregnant with a second child (due in September 2008) by Zidov Dominik, a fighter participating in the reality fighting show The Contender Asia. [1]
