Mahendra Karma

Mahendra Karma is a politician from Chhattisgarh, India. He is the leader of opposition in the legislative assembly of Chhattisgarh and belongs to the Congress party. He is a tribal and came into news in 2005 for leading tribals against Naxalites in Chattisgarh by organising Salwa Judum (literally Peace Initiative) marches. The initiative was praised by the Chief Minister Raman Singh. Salwa Judum movement failed to eliminate naxalite movement and many Salva Judum activists were killed by the naxalites. He was a minister in the Ajit Jogi cabinet.
