The maglia bianca (from Italian: "white jersey") is the jersey given to the best young rider in the Giro d'Italia as determined by the best overall time. The winner must be under the age of 24†. The jersey holder is thus determined by looking at the maglia rosa classification, then removing all riders born before the cut-off date. The award was given from 1976 to 1994, and then it appeared again in the 2007 edition (but now, it seems, it holds for riders under 25).
† Looking at birth-dates of the winners this does seem not true; it rather varied: under 22, under 23, under 24... ? (Maybe sb can clarify, please.)
