Magherafelt Controlled Primary School is a school in Magherafelt, situated close to the high school, and Greenvale Leisure Centre. It could be considered large for a primary school in its area. It was built in the 1950s. The school is known locally as "Magherafelt Primary" or "The Primary". It is considered a traditionally Protestant school, but it has some Catholics in it.
The school has two major parts, an "Infant Department" and the main school. The Infant Department is where pupils in P1-P3 are educated. The main school is where pupils in P4-P7 are educated. Pupils tend to move on to either the Rainey Endowed School or Magherafelt High School.
The school has seen some vandalism in the past years.
It is also used for voting on various Northern Ireland election events.
