Maggiano's Little Italy is an Italian-style chain of casual dining restaurants with locations throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Maggiano's Little Italy specializes in Italian-American cuisine served in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Maggiano's menu features both classic and contemporary recipes -- authentic pastas, signature salads, prime steaks, fresh seafood, regular chef specials and specialty desserts. Maggiano's offer lunch or dinner, carryout service, delivery and banquet spaces for special occasions. Maggiano's is one of four restaurant brands in the portfolio of Dallas-based Brinker International.

As of December 2007, there are 41 locations nationwide.[1]

[edit] History

Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises Inc.'s Richard Melman[2] is Founder of Maggiano's Little Italy and the Corner Baker Café, both of which it sold to restaurant powerhouse Brinker International Inc. in the late 1990s. Lettuce Entertain You, founded in 1971, was an instant Chicago success with restaurants like R. J. Grunt's and Jonathan Living Seafood. It grew slowly regionally until the 1990s when it created the Corner Bakery and Maggiano's. Now, it's resurfacing in the retail environment with Mon Ami Gabi and, possibly in the future, other concepts. [3]

Maggiano's Little Italy was presented with the 2000 Best People Practices Award.[4]

[edit] Products

Featured entrees on the Little Italy Favorites menu were inspired by the distinctive and regional flavors found in Little Italy neighborhoods across the country. Little Italy Favorites include Chicago's Taylor Street Baked Ziti and Sausage, served with pomodoro sauce topped with a layer of melted provolone and parmesan cheese; New York's Little Italy Braised Beef Cannelloni stuffed with braised beef, asiago and parmesan cheeses; Boston's North End Lobster Ravioli made with basil and saffron pasta filled with fresh lobster meat in a light lobster cream sauce; and Philadelphia's South Philly Chicken Cacciatore featuring slow-cooked chicken smothered in Maggiano's own red wine tomato gravy with mushrooms, roasted peppers and onions.

In addition, three new entree salads provide an alternative for guests seeking a lighter Italian-American meal. Maggiano's now offers a Roasted Chicken and Arugula Salad topped with tomatoes, cucumbers and white balsamic vinaigrette; Steak and Gorgonzola Salad made with arugula, spinach, walnuts and bleu cheese vinaigrette; and the Italian Antipasti Salad a mixture of iceberg, romaine, prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, provolone and Italian vinaigrette.[5]
