I think it's a travesty to be throwing up (and throwing up is the operative phrase here) stubs about subjects one apparently knows nothing about and for which one is not willing to do the most minimal of research. Mahur Jaffrey was interviewed on October 10, 2006 by Brian Lehrer for his shown on WNYC FM (NYC). She just published a memoir about growing up in India. The archived show should be available at wnyc.org (Brian Lehrer show).

[edit] Translation of cookbooks

Her cookbooks were translated into other languages, e. g. German. And her books are really popular in Germany among people, who are enthusiastic about Asian, especially Indian kitchen.
