What is the source for the historical population figure pages for New England? The pages are great -- as a numbers junkie I love them. However, if the pages list the data from 1900 to 2000, we might as well go all the way back to the original census in 1790.

I'd be happy to, over the course of a few months (because obviously I do have life commitments outside of Wikipedia), fill in the gaps and complete the census information so that it goes back to the first census in 1790 for all six New England states.
