[edit] Is that really the name of the group?

I find this sentence a bit awkward: "Beginning in 2002 the Los Angeles Police Department, and business, and community leaders of the Alliance: Macarthur Park led a revitalization effort ..."

As I read it, there's a community group called "Alliance: MacArthur Park." Is that right? If so, I'd like to suggest rewording that sentence to something like this:

"Beginning in 2002 the Los Angeles Police Department, along with business [NOTE: I'm taking out this comma anyhow :)] and community leaders of the community group Alliance: Macarthur Park, led a revitalization ..."

The problem with a group with a feistily punctuated name is that it looks odd in sentences unless explained a bit, like e.e. cummings.

[edit] Bandshell restored

The bandshell has been restored, and is now host to a summer concert series. I'll gather some info and add it to the article. FloBrio 06:07, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Still Criminal?

Hmmm - I was at the park today and at the subway station and I did not see anyone hawking fake IDs. Also, I use the station almost every day and have NOT seen that activity (OK - my Spanish is perhaps not up to knowing this)... the worst I have seen around the park is that there are still a number of homeless people in and around it and Alvarado is quite crowded with Latin street business, mainly phone cards, hot dogs, fruit , CDs and DVDs (I do not know if the titles are pirated). Also, I saw that LAPD had a contingent of officers on horseback in the park today. I could not figure a good way to edit the sentence which claimed that people offer fake ID, so I have left that to a more astute editor. L. Greg 23:36, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
