Maculopapular

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maculopapular is a medical term used to describe a unique type of rash. It is a portmanteau of the terms:

  1. macule (meaning a small, red, lesion flush with the surface of the skin) and
  2. papule meaning a small, raised, red lesion.

Thus, the rash comprises raised and flat small, red lesions. It can be seen in a variety of conditions, including measles and syphilis.
