MacRobert Baronets
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The MacRobert Baronetcy, of Douneside, Aberdeenshire, was a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on April 5, 1922 for Alexander MacRobert, a self made millionaire. The title became extinct following the death of his youngest son, Sir Iain MacRobert whilst serving with the Royal Air Force on June 30, 1941. Iain's elder brother Roderic, was killed just over a month before him, also whilst serving with the RAF. Their mother, Lady Rachel Workman MacRobert (1880 - 1954), gave £25,000 to purchase a Short Stirling bomber, the aircraft was named "MacRobert's Reply" in memory of her sons.
