M-189 is a short north-south state highway route in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan.

M-189 connects US 2 with STH-139 near Iron River. This area is heavily wooded. M-189 crosses the Brule River at the state line.

M-189's routing has been has not changed since designation on 1932-12-29. In 1936 or 1937, the highway was paved in its entirety.[2]
