M-117 is a 14.51-mile (23.35 km) state trunkline highway in the eastern Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan

[edit] Route description
The highway begins at US 2, one mile south of Engadine and ends at M-28 near Newberry. The road travels north-south, and provides an important connection between two of the main highways in the Upper Peninsula. Of the ten state trunklines that connect M-28 and US 2, M-117 is one of three that do not overlap either. The others are US 45 and I-75.

In the 1950's, M-117 ran from US 2 to Newberry, cosigning with M-28, and turning north to Newberry. This road to Newberry is now part of M-123. The northern terminus of M-117 is only a few miles to the west of the terminus of M-123, which also ends on M-28.[1]
M-117 was dedicated in 1993 to the deactivated 117th Quartermaster Battalion based out of Kingsford.[2][3]
