Můstek (Prague Metro)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Můstek is a Prague Metro station (in fact two stations connected with system of corridors) that serves as an interchange point between lines A and B. It wasn't until the excavation of the area that a medieval bridge was discovered and the meaning of the name Můstek ("Little Bridge") fully understood.
Můstek A (completed in 1978) has two exits through escalator tunnels (one on bothe ends of the middle aisle) with one vestibule below lower (NW) end of the Wenceslas Square (the preserved medieval bridge can be seen here) and the other below central part of the square. System of corridors connects the station of Line A with station of Line B located roughly in the same location, but several metres deeper. Můstek B (completed in 1985) has one escalator tunnel with a vestibule below Jungmann Square. The opposite end of the station may be equipped with another escalator to Na Příkopě Street in some distant future.
