[edit] Miriel's Return
I can't find anything in the Silmarillion or elsewhere corroborating the assertion that Miriel returned to life following the death of Finwe. Where is this found, and shouldn't the reference be cited? Even if it's in notes in various locations, the statement needs to be debated in terms of canonicity. I am removing it until a discussion on its validity takes place. Sighter Goliant 22:23, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- "After Finwë had been killed, Míriel was granted permission to return to life. She entered the service of Vairë, her task being to weave all the deeds of the House of Finwë in a great tapestry." This is the line I removed. I am recording it here for ease of discussion and replication should we decide it needs to be in the article. Sighter Goliant 22:24, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
I believe it is in the Peoples of Middle Earth, which is some assorted writings of JRR Tolkien compilated by his son Christopher. Not sure where it is in the book but I know its there. I therefore suggest putting it back into the article. Where does the description of Miriel come from? I had always thought Tolkien described her as similar in apperance to Feanor. Jak1985
- Currently, I do not have my copy of the Silmarillion readily available, so I have nothing to cite, but I think before the Miriel reference is put back in it should be accompanied by an appropriate citation. It's just a strong enough claim that it actually might interest someone to have the citation handy. Sighter Goliant 19:57, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
