Méditel (or Médi Télécom) is one of three licensed telecommunications operators in Morocco. Its headquarters is based in Casablanca.

Méditel obtained the second license of mobile telephony in Morocco in 1999. It began its commercial operations in March 29, 2000.

Its ownership structure is composed of five shareholders:

• Portugal Telecom (32.18%)
• Telefónica Móviles (32.18%)
• BMCE bank, the first Moroccan financial group (18.06%),
• the Moroccan industrial group Afriquia - (17.59%).

At the end of 2005, Méditel counted more than four million users.

Deutsche Bank estimated the value of the company at approximately €1.150 million [2].

The mobile operations of Méditel uses the GSM technology, operating at the band of 900 MHz.

In July 2005, Médi Telecom obtained a license of fixed telephony, the second license granted in Morocco after that of its rival Maroc Telecom. The offer was 75 million Moroccan dirhams.
