Wikipedia:FU#Images, in its acceptable use of non-free images, allows for "film and television screen shots" for purposes of critical commentary. Unless a promotional image such as a film poster is the best representative of a copyrighted work, characters should be represented by screen shots, not promotional stills, as the latter are not part of the actual films/tv shows in question.
