[edit] 1976 FEC

  • We've done some investigations of Mr. LaRouche. There certainly appears to be a lot of crossover among his organizations, Frederick Eiland, a spokesman for the Federal Elections Commission, said in a telephone interview from Washington. According to Mr. Eiland, an application by Mr. LaRouche for federal financing in 1976 was turned down, in part because auditors found that 97 per cent of his campaign committee's debt was owed to four organizations at the same address. Members of the four groups - the USLP, the NCLC, New Solidarity International Press Service and Campaigner Publications Inc. - received 78 per cent of the group's spending, Mr. Eiland said. The investigators also failed to locate 49 of 70 citizens listed as having donated money; several others denied making donations.
