LW50MG
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The lightweight .50 Caliber (12.7mm) machine gun (LW50MG) weapon system is a heavy machine gun being designed by General Dynamics (GD) to replace the M2 Browning machine gun. The LW50MG will be lighter than the M2, and have a greater rate of fire than the failed previous attempt to replace the M2, the XM312. GD received a $9 million contract to develop the weapon. If the development is successful, it will then be deployed starting in 2012. [1] The LW50MG could possibly be the same thing of, or a spawning from, the previous GDATP XM-312 LHMG prototype.
