[edit] Country designation
It's all very good and well the FIA designating it as a Luxembourgian event, to get around its own stupid rules, but I fail to understand why Wikipedia has to follow it. By this, I mean the little Luxembourgian flag in the infobox and its inclusion in the category 'Sport in Luxembourg'. Really? In Luxembourg? 'Related' to Luxembourg, perhaps, but not in Luxembourg. At least, not by eighty kilometres or so. Bastin 02:02, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Since I was the one who added the infobox and the flag: I had a look at European Grand Prix and there was the flag of the EU next to (surprise) the Nürburgring. When I came over that aritcle it was marked as a Luxembourg stub. Now that's something I call stupid. Feel free to change it or bug the Wikiproject (link is mentioned above). - Oh, and: "[LUX] Nürburgring (Germany)" - I've included the country name because I considered the flag wrong, but a German flag wouldn't be correct either. The infobox requires a flag, you can only remove it by adding a transparent image. --32X 06:20, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- The infobox flag doesn't really matter. If the flag reflects the notional designation of the race (as in the European case), it ought to be Luxembourg's over Germany's. I came across it while reorganising the Luxembourgian categories, so that was the real problem. Thanks for clearing up that one. Bastin 17:40, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Although the article doesn't mention it, the event did have more than a name in common with Luxembourg; the race was notionally held under the auspices of that country's motorsport authorities, and the trophies were presented by Luxembourg dignitaries.
